About this report
This pilot study explored the experiences of 10 Black girls aged 12–18 living and/or attending school in the London Borough of Lambeth, examining how social, political and institutional environments affect their lives across community safety, schooling and mental health. The findings show that Black girls face pervasive racism, adultification and a near-total lack of safe spaces, leaving them feeling unprotected by both the police and school systems. The report calls for intersectional investment in youth services, anti-racist school strategies, and targeted mental health support that centres Black girls' specific needs.
